Without Measureනියැදිය

We belong to a God whose presence is always and forever available to us. How astounding is that? There’s not a time of day, season of the year, or circumstance in life that can keep us from His presence. ‘There’s nowhere we can go from His Spirit,’ David says in the Psalms. And, not only that, but His very presence is where we find fullness of joy. This is available to everyone, everywhere, at any time. Whether we are deep in sorrow, rejoicing in celebration, or simply seeking to be faithful in the daily-ness of life, we can experience joy in God’s nearness.

In a time in our history when our capacity to be present is continually threatened by devices, digital media, and doing, this undeniable truth feels like an ever-increasing treasure to pursue and to protect. Unlike us, God is never distracted. He is always pursuing us, inviting us into His abounding, steadfast love. Jesus tells us to remain in Him – to make our home in this steadfast love of His. His attention is on us. We need only turn to Him.

Still, there’s more. At his right hand are pleasures forever. God is always ready with an open hand of blessings – peace, grace, favor, love, comfort – the list itself is never-ending. So, not only is God’s presence always accessible, but also, we find joy in that presence, and, on top of that, God’s presence comes with pleasures in hand.

What we see again and again is that, with God, there’s always more - blessings without measure. They never run dry. Even His mercies, we are told, are new every morning. We simply cannot get away from the abundance that flows out of His very being.

When was the last time you experienced the fullness of joy that comes with being in God’s presence? Ask the Lord to remind you – to take you back to a time when you felt contained in Him and at home in His love? Thank Him for it and ask for more of Him.

If you haven’t necessarily experienced God’s presence as abundant or joyful, then express any sorrow and longing that might be there. Imagine Jesus with you as you share honestly.

Maybe take time to make a list of all the pleasures you have received from God's right hand. Allow it to fuel a time of thanksgiving and praise.
