Are you walking through a dry and difficult season in your marriage? Does it feel barren, like you’re staring at remnants of what once was? The friendship you cherished, the dates you looked forward to, the joy you once shared, it all feels like a distant memory.

If that’s you, I want you to know you are not alone. Many marriages endure seasons of quiet difficulty. My husband and I faced them right away in our first year: unhealed personal trauma, strained intimacy, and communication that left us divided. To be honest, I didn’t think we would even make it to our first anniversary.

Yet, Scripture tells us we can have joyful confidence even in trials. Why? Because those very trials are working something deeper—shaping us, stretching us, and forming the kind of love that reflects Christ.

James 1:2 (TPT) encourages us: “My fellow believers, when it seems as though you are facing nothing but difficulties, see it as an invaluable opportunity to experience the greatest joy that you can!”

I know it’s hard. I know it feels heavy. But hold on, friend, grace is fighting for your marriage.

Where have you felt helpless in your marriage? Can you trust God to meet you in that space and begin His work of restoration?

Prayer:

“Lord, I bring my brokenness before You. Teach me to see this season not as the end, but as an opportunity for Your restoration. Strengthen my heart, soften my spirit, and remind me that You are working beauty in my marriage, even when I cannot see it. Amen.”
