Train Up a Child: Social Mediaනියැදිය

You can read the devotion out loud as a family, giving two people a part to read. Or have one person read it out loud. Have fun with the voices and characters, and if you're up for it, you can even act out the script!
The Holy Spirit is Greater than AI
Timmy is sitting at a table. He is totally excited about what he sees on the tablet. Janet walks in and sees his smile.
Janet: Timmy, I thought you were doing your homework, come on bud, I don’t want to have this conversation again.
Timmy: I am, mom!
Janet: Then why do you have such a big smile on your face? Something’s not right.
Timmy: The love of learning I guess.
Janet: Timothy Simon Markwell, something’s going on. What’s up?
She puts the laundry basket on the table and sits down beside him. Timmy shows her the tablet and she takes it from his hand.
Timmy: When I move out, I’m going to have this robot do all the chores. It can even fold laundry like they do in the stores. Flat as pancakes, no wrinkles.
Janet looks at it more closely, zooms in on the screen.
Janet: Why wait til you move out? Let’s get one now.
Timmy: They’re still prototyping.
Janet: Oh.
Timmy: And they’ll be about $40,000 off the shelf.
Janet puts the tablet down.
Janet: Well, guess you’re stuck with mommy and daddy robots who do all these things for you, with that price tag.
She lovingly punches his shoulder.
Timmy: This is the coolest assignment I’ve ever had.
Janet: Must be. I thought you were playing a new video game or something. What’s it about?
Timmy: AI.
Janet: Oh.
Timmy: We have to research what it can do.
Janet: It’s all anyone is talking about. I’ll get excited when AI can massage my bunions.
She lifts her foot into her hands and starts to massage it.
Timmy: It probably can! At least, it can teach you how. But look. Part of the assignment is that we had to have machine learning help us with some household tasks to simplify life.
Janet: I’m listening.
Timmy picks the tablet back up and scrolls.
Timmy: Check this out. I just created a 7-day meal plan with a shopping list for all the ingredients. It includes recipes with instructions and factors in all of our favorite foods, even Jenny’s gluten allergy.
Janet sits up and takes the tablet.
Janet: That’s impressive.
Timmy: It took me a few minutes to get the prompts all right. But it spit that thing out in like 10 seconds.
Janet: Wow.
Timmy: And look at this. I asked it to put together a list of resorts, theme parks, and pit stops for the best vacation of all time for when we finally go to Florida. It’s got a 3-day, 7-day, and a 14-day itinerary depending on how long we want to go.
Janet: Either a 3-day trip to Florida or a house robot, you can’t have both.
Timmy: I think AI could be the answer to all our problems. It’s almost like magic!
Janet: It is pretty neat. I like how you’re using it. Almost like a personal assistant.
Timmy grabs his notebook.
Timmy: I like that observation. I’m going to use that in my report.
Janet: But you know what it can’t do, bud?
Timmy: What?
Janet: Guide you.
Timmy: What do you mean?
Janet: It's really good at predicting patterns, finding information, and quickly putting that together for you, but you know there’s some databases that AI can never access, right?
Timmy: Like CIA and spy secrets and stuff?
Janet: Maybe. But I’m talking about the database of God’s wisdom, which is secret and hidden.
Timmy: Mo-ooom.
Janet: No, I’m not joking. People are doing crazy stuff with AI. I saw an article about a guy who proposed to his AI girlfriend.
Timmy looks up at his mother with surprise.
Timmy: Gross!
Janet: Totally. And some people think that they can access secret knowledge and wisdom through it. But they can’t. AI can only access info created or already shared by humans.
Timmy: But our teacher told us that AI is even used by pastors, and to search the Bible.
Janet: I heard that too. It’s part of almost anything we do online. I bet your pastor still writes his own sermons though.
Timmy: He better.
Janet: Ain’t that the truth.
Timmy: Remember that sermon by the student pastor a few months ago, though?
Janet: He definitely used AI.
Timmy and Janet: Awkward!
Janet: But what I’m trying to say is that there’s a wisdom that AI can’t tap into. Did you know that the Holy Spirit searches the deep things of God himself and he reveals it to us?
Timmy: He does?
Janet: Yeah. The Spirit has access to everything, and only He can guide us in truth.
Timmy: That’s cool.
Janet: So cool. And there’s one other database that AI can’t search.
Timmy: Like what?
She lovingly cups his chin.
Janet: You. Remember how we were just reading Psalm 139 after supper? “Search me, O God” it says. Only the Spirit can really know what’s in our hearts and He reveals that too. So, make sure you remember that when you write up your report. There’s a lot AI can do, but it can’t do that.
Timmy: But your fitness ring reads your heart.
Janet: My heart beats. But it doesn’t know the faith or the stories or the love for my sweet kids that is hidden inside.
Timmy picks up the notebook and pen. He reads aloud what he writes:
Timmy: “The two unsearchable databases AI can never touch.” That could be a good title.
Janet: Your teacher will know you didn’t use AI to generate that.
Timmy: Fact. Mom?
Janet: What bud?
Timmy: Can we pre-order a house robot?
Janet: Why don’t you come upstairs, help me put away this laundry, and then we’ll go sell the idea to your dad.
She picks up the laundry basket and they start to exit.
Timmy: You think he’ll want one?
Janet: Tell him it can unload the dishwasher every morning and I think he’ll put the deposit down today.
