Reaching the Audience God Intended

We can often think that our message is meant for everyone. We are sharing the gospel after all. I thought that too, and that was another reason why my message was so unclear. I was trying to reach everyone.

When we write for everyone, we will not reach the audience that our message was intended for. We need to have a clear picture of the person we are writing to. The Holy Spirit will show you who they are. It may even be the person you were before you encountered Jesus.

Sometimes books don’t sell, posts don’t spread, or messages don’t land because they’re not yet aligned with the audience God intended. Paul was redirected away from Asia and toward Macedonia — because God knew where the message needed to go. When your words feel overlooked, it doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It may mean God is repositioning you for the readers who truly need your voice.

Reflection Questions:

• Who do I sense God is calling me to write for?
• Where might He be redirecting my focus to reach the right people?

Action Step:

Write a one-sentence description of your ideal reader. Pray specifically for them by name (even if you don’t know them yet).

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank you for preparing the hearts of every reader my message is intended for. I pray that every word I write will fall on their hearts like a seed that will produce a great harvest.
