Slowing to Be With God Amidst an Anxious, Fast-Paced Lifeනියැදිය

With our bottomless to-do lists, we tell ourselves there’s no time to slow down. We’ll worry about stillness with Jesus later and make room for other worries now. Can we keep living this way to the glory of God?
In reality, if we slow down to be with Him, even in the midst of hectic lives, the other worries will be faced with the One who conquers all fear and lies. What if our fast-paced lives cause others around us to stumble, and we miss opportunities to bless those God brings across our path?
It is hard to give up something as harmful as hectic anxiety because it’s a familiar burden to bear. Ironically, it ends up becoming a way of seeking my own good, my own certainty, my own security. If we never give it over to Jesus, we’ll never know life without that weight on our shoulders, and we'll miss seeing the ways God wants to save those around us.
How can we surrender everything we do to the glory of God while still hurrying about in anxious hecticness??
Take a moment and slowly reflect on what you are anxious about.
Sit with Jesus, whatever that looks like for you.
Invite Him into even your darkest worries.
Declutter your mind of any lies and let in God’s grace.
Take it as an opportunity to breathe in peace of the Holy Spirit.
Refocus on the face of Jesus.
When I was invited to write this devotional, I sat in stillness with God to discern if He willed for me to take it on. We landed on the topic for it together on a night when I simply invited Him to eat dinner with me. I sat in silence and ate. I was quiet so He could be loud. I asked Him what He would have me share with this opportunity to reach His children, for their good, for their salvation.
What would it look like for you to commit your harried and hectic life to the glory of God?
Who has God brought close to you, that if you slowed down to meet with them, share a coffee or dinner with them, for their good, they might be saved?
Heavenly Father, help us please you with our hearts and minds, that we may bring you glory in all we say and do in our slowed-down everyday life.
