In Christ: A Journey Through Ephesiansනියැදිය

A Life Worthy of the Calling
Paul calls us to walk in a manner worthy of our calling (Ephesians 4:1). That “walk” is marked by humility, patience, gentleness, and love. These aren’t just personal virtues—they are the foundation of unity. Just as there is one body and one Spirit, we are called to live as one (Ephesians 4:3–4). This echoes Jesus’ prayer in John 17:21, that His followers would be united just as He and the Father are one.
Unity doesn’t mean uniformity. Paul explains that Christ gave different gifts—apostles, prophets, evangelists, shepherds, and teachers—to equip the church and build it up in maturity (Ephesians 4:11–13). Every believer has a role. Growth happens when we each do our part, speaking the truth in love.
Paul then contrasts the old self with the new self (Ephesians 4:22–24). In Christ, we are made new—so we must put off falsehood, bitterness, and unforgiveness, and put on kindness, truth, and grace.
Like Colossians 3:12 says, we are chosen and beloved—so we clothe ourselves with compassion. The world may be divided and harsh, but we are called to be different.
Prayer:
God, help me to walk in a way that reflects who I am in You. Grow humility, patience, and love in me, and teach me how to build others up with truth and grace. Use my life and gifts to serve the body and reflect the unity of Your Spirit. Amen.
