Stories of Generosity: How Followers of Jesus Changed the Worldනියැදිය

Day 3 | Martin Luther
“I have held many things in my hands and I have lost them all. But whatever I have placed in God’s hands, that I still possess.” - Martin Luther
In the early 1500s, Martin Luther boldly challenged the church’s teaching that salvation could be earned. He believed the truth—that salvation is a free gift received through faith in Jesus. God led him to translate the original Scriptures, teaching that good works are the fruit of a heart transformed through Jesus—not the way to salvation.
The truth is, only what we give to God lasts. Possessions, money, titles, even our own bodies—they’re all temporary. But generosity, love, and service offered to God and others hold eternal value. When we give God our first and best, when we live generously, we’re investing in treasures that can’t be lost.
Pray: Lord, help me loosen my grip on what I’m holding too tightly. Everything I have is from you, and everything I give back to you has eternal purpose. Use me to help build your Kingdom here on earth.

Throughout history, God has used ordinary men and women whose extraordinary faith and generosity changed the world. Their words and lives still inspire us today, pointing us toward Jesus and showing us what it looks like to live open-handed for his Kingdom. As we study their stories alongside Scripture, we’re reminded that true generosity isn’t about wealth or status—it’s about a heart fully surrendered to God. Their examples challenge us, inspire us, and invite us to take our next step toward joyful, radical, Christlike generosity.
