Cling and Surrender: Embracing What Matters, Releasing What Doesn’tනියැදිය

Are you playing it fast and loose?
Have you ever heard of the expression “playing it fast and loose”? It means behaving irresponsibly, without care.
As Christians, we’re supposed to “play it fast and loose”, not in the metaphorical sense, but literally: there are things we should hold on to fast (or tight) and others we’re meant to hold loosely (ready to release).
In the coming days, we’ll cover six topics: three things to cling to and three you should be willing to surrender. To make it even easier, they all start with the letter ‘P’.😁
The first and foremost thing we should always hold on to is God’s Presence.
Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His presence continually! – 1 Chronicles 16:11 ESV
God created us to live in His presence and to walk closely with Him. However, in Genesis 3:8, we learn that after Adam and Eve sinned, they felt the need to hide from God’s presence.
That’s what sin does—it drives us away from the One we need most, because in God’s presence there is:
- Fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11)
- Rest and peace (Exodus 33:14)
- Fruitfulness (John 15:5)
- Shelter and protection (Psalm 91:1-2)
But here’s the truth: God’s presence is not a place of condemnation—it’s a place of restoration.
We no longer have to hide from God when we sin; in fact, through His death on the cross, Jesus made the way for us to enter boldly into God’s presence to receive forgiveness for our sins:
Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. – Hebrews 4:16 NIV
Seek God’s presence and hold to it tightly! Do not let shame, guilt or fear keep you from seeking God and entering His presence.
Let’s pray together:
Heavenly Father, thank You for making Your presence available to me anytime, anywhere. Help me to seek You continually and approach You boldly– especially when I’ve messed up. Thank you for Your endless grace. In Jesus’ name, amen.
