Grandparenting on Purpose
Day 1: Leaving a Legacy
Scripture: “I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.” (2 Timothy 1:5, NIV)
Faith is never meant to end with us. Paul saw Timothy’s faith as a direct continuation of what began in his grandmother Lois and was nurtured by his mother, Eunice. Lois may not have been known beyond her family, but her legacy lives on through Timothy’s ministry and the countless lives he touched.
As grandparents, we sometimes wonder if our influence matters. Your example of prayer, your retelling of God’s faithfulness, and the quiet way you forgive or show kindness leave an imprint far beyond today. With every story you share, every verse you speak, and every time you live out God’s love, you are planting seeds of faith in your grandchildren’s hearts.
You may not see the full harvest in your lifetime, but God is faithful to grow what you sow. The legacy you leave is not just a family name, but a testimony of faith that can echo for generations.
Daily Challenge:
Write a short note, text, or card to your grandchild that shares a piece of your faith story (how you met Jesus, a favorite verse, or an answered prayer). Plant a seed of legacy today.
