Close to God || Far From God - a Video Devo With AGT Winner, Dustin Tavellaනියැදිය

Let’s Get Real:
Let’s be honest—when we think about following God, sometimes our first thought is, “What do I have to give up?”
But what if we flipped that?
What if we focused on what we’re actually gaining?
Hope.
Peace.
Joy.
Purpose.
Healing.
Strength to keep going.
Confidence to stand tall.
When we fix our eyes on what’s ahead instead of what we’re leaving behind, it becomes so clear—this “trade” with God is the best deal we could ever make.
Our brokenness for His healing.
Our emptiness for His fullness.
Our knock-offs for His treasures.
Why would we hesitate?
The Shift We Need:
In today’s video, we talked about making a list of what we want more of in our lives when we’re walking closely with God.
Take a second.
Really think about this.
What are the things you’re hoping for in your relationship with Jesus?
Maybe it’s:
- Peace that quiets the anxiety
- Healing from past pain
- Joy that doesn’t depend on your circumstances
- Patience with yourself and others
- Confidence in who God says you are
Once you’ve got your list, it’s time to filter everything through it.
Ask yourself:
- Do my social media habits help or hurt in achieving the things on this list?
- Do my conversations push me toward what is on this list or away from it?
- Do the people I hang out with encourage this kind of life—or distract from it?
That might sound intense, but here’s the truth:
Everything you let into your life is either feeding your growth… or starving it.
So, What Now?
You don’t have to do this alone.
Actually—you’re not supposed to.
Surround yourself with people who get it.
Friends who remind you of what matters.
People who are willing to call you out and then walk with you through the changes.
People who want to chase after Jesus right beside you.
If you feel like you don’t have that kind of community yet—pray.
Ask God to bring the right people into your life.
And don’t overlook who may already be right in front of you.
Sometimes the best friends are right under our noses… we’ve just been focused on pursuing the wrong ones.
Your Challenge Today:
- Make your “What I Want More Of” list. Hope, peace, joy—whatever it is.
- Use it as your filter. Start asking, “Does this help me grow toward that or pull me away?”
- Invite someone in. Talk with a friend who’s also hungry for God. Get honest. Encourage each other. Hold each other accountable.
Prayer You Can Pray:
Jesus, thank You for offering me something better than anything this world could give.
Help me stop focusing on what I’m giving up and start focusing on what I’m gaining in You.
Give me wisdom to know what needs to change in my life—and courage to actually do it.
Bring the right people into my life, and help me be that kind of person for someone else too. Amen.
Bottom Line:
Don’t settle for less.
The life God’s offering you is rich, full, and worth it.
You just have to choose it—every day.
