Evangelize Everywhere: Work Editionනියැදිය

There’s a saying that suggests “actions speak louder than words.” There’s another saying that suggests “you may be the only Bible people read today.” Before you say a word, did you know you evangelize with your actions? Regardless of the type of work you do, how you conduct yourself at work is one of the most essential tools for sharing your faith with your coworkers.

Colossians 3:23 encourages us to do whatever we do as unto the Lord. I often use a phrase to describe how we should approach this that simply says, 'operate in excellence.' As a representative of our heavenly father, I believe we should be the best at what we do. When everyone else is cutting corners, we are doing things with precision and excellence. When everyone else is gossiping, we are holding a standard of integrity.

Just think about it, how does it look for us as believers to show up late every day, slack off at work, be poor stewards of resources, and not excel in our work? (You can repent now.) This requires a perspective shift. Yes, you're working to provide for your family and make a living, but you’re also serving as an ambassador of Christ. Why would someone on the fence about faith choose to give Christianity a chance when the believers are behaving worse than unbelievers?

Perhaps the promotion you’re believing for isn’t just tied to your prayer life, but it’s tied to your conduct. What have you done to distinguish yourself as Daniel did in Daniel chapter 6? He was set above the governors because he distinguished himself and had an excellent spirit in him.

So yes, we have to shift our perspective from working just to get a check and run up a bag to buy whatever we want to knowing that we are sent on assignment to be a witness for our Lord Jesus. And it begins with our actions.

Being the best example of a believer that you can be is one of the most powerful ways to witness at work without even saying a word. Because one day they will ask why you do everything in excellence, and that will be your opportunity to testify to the God we serve. So choose this day to operate in excellence in all that you do at work.

Prayer: Lord, help me to operate in excellence at work. I desire to be the best representative for you at my job, and it starts with how I conduct myself. I pray that me being the best example I can be sparks a conversation about who you are and how you help me excel at work. In Jesus’ name, amen.
