POWER UP: 5 Days of Inspiration for Connecting to God's Powerනියැදිය

WIND POWER
We once visited Napa Valley, CA. My wife and I decided to take a hot air balloon ride. This one was at sunrise, so it made for an early morning. When we arrived, it was cold and dark. We signed all the liability waivers, releasing the company of responsibility if the balloon plummeted to the ground.
There were three balloons going up that day and ours was last. We drank some coffee as we waited to take flight. This was our first time going up in a hot air balloon. Finally, it was our turn and just as the sun was coming up, we took off and soared upward.
We didn’t go very high, only maybe fifteen hundred feet in the air. It was oddly quiet and quite peaceful. Unless you have a fear of heights, it was not scary at all. We were not moving particularly fast and I wondered when we would go higher and faster.
So, I asked the pilot about it. He told me we would go higher but not by much. If we went too high, then stronger winds would take us in a westerly direction. We would not end up at our landing zone. In fact, we would travel much farther away and put ourselves in danger.
I wondered if we could at least go faster. He told me we were totally at the mercy of the wind. But likely would only travel 10-15 miles an hour. The heat in the balloon can only make it go higher but not faster. Hot air rises in the cooler air surrounding it. Up, up and away is all a balloon can do.
John 3:8 (CEV) tells us, “Only God’s Spirit gives new life. The Spirit is like the wind that blows wherever it wants to.” Wind depicts the Holy Spirit as a moving force and divine kind of power.
We are to live our lives being directed by the wind of the Spirit. We may want to go higher in our lives and there is nothing wrong with that. God may in fact take us to levels we could have only dreamed of. But if higher is going to put us in danger of missing God’s plan for us, the wind of the Spirit will not guide us there.
We may want to go faster. We become tired of waiting for events to unfold and want to move along with our lives. But the Spirit will not move us faster than God’s will. We must always follow the Spirit’s leading and trust in God’s perfect timing.
We hope this Plan inspired you. We adapted it from the book GREATER: Daily Inspiration to Increase Your Faith. If you would like more resources for your spiritual growth including a FREE 5-Day Devotional visit https://www.rickmcdaniel.com/thisisliving.html.
