Day 3: Characteristics of the Wildfire
Devotional
Conflict often erupts like a wildfire—unpredictable, consuming, and deeply personal. These wildfires aren’t just about the external details—people, emotions, history, property—they’re also shaped by the conflict habits we’ve formed over time. Whether we lean toward aggression, avoidance, or compromise, our response patterns are rooted in our past experiences. The world teaches that peace is the absence of conflict, and so we chase outcomes to gain control. But Jesus offers a deeper peace—not through perfect outcomes, but through His presence. He never promised a conflict-free life, but He did promise His peace in the fire. The question isn’t how to avoid the wildfire, but how to walk in it with Jesus, who has already overcome the world.
Reflection Question:
What habits do you bring into conflict, and how might Jesus want to transform them?
Prayer:
Lord, help me not to fear the fires of conflict but to trust You in them. Shape my habits to reflect Your peace, not my preferences. Teach me to rely on Your presence more than desired outcomes. Amen.
