Characteristics of a God-Inspired Business

3 න් 3 වන දිනය

Over the last two days, we’ve explored the first four characteristics of a God-inspired business: it glorifies God, brings value to customers, provides profits for your family, and creates opportunities for others. Today, we’re wrapping up with the fifth and final characteristic—and this one is especially important for those who are married or desire to be.

5. It Thrives Well With Your Marriage

This one is for the married folks—and if you’re not married yet, pay attention because it’ll help you in the future.

Most entrepreneurs—Christian or not—pour so much into their business that their marriage suffers. Just look around at many successful people, even pastors, and you’ll see a pattern of broken marriages. One major cause: too much time and energy going into the business and not enough into the marriage.

I’ve made that mistake myself. I didn’t get divorced, but I’ve definitely made errors by focusing too much on business and not enough on my marriage. I had to learn the hard way.

Here’s the truth: God won’t give you two competing visions. If He called you to be married, and He also called you into business, those callings are meant to work together—not against each other.

1 Corinthians 7:32–34 (Amplified Classic) says: "My desire is to have you free from all anxiety and distress and care. The unmarried man is anxious about the things of the Lord—how he may please the Lord. But the married man is anxious about worldly matters—how he may please his wife—and he is drawn in diverging directions."

Paul is saying that a married man has to divide his attention. He can’t just focus on the Lord—or in our case, just focus on the business. He must also focus on his wife. The same is true for married women: "The unmarried woman is concerned about the things of the Lord… But the married woman has her cares centered in earthly affairs—how she may please her husband."

So if you’re single, you can go all in on your God-inspired business. But if you’re married, you must intentionally give time and energy to both your marriage and your business. A God-inspired business will never compete with your marriage. If it starts to, God will pull back on the business—not your marriage—because your marriage is a covenant.

Recap: The Five Characteristics of a God-Inspired Business

  1. It glorifies God in its operation – It reflects God’s character through integrity, honor, and truth.
  2. It brings value to customers – People are blessed by your product or service and are happy to pay for it.
  3. It provides profits for your family – Your family should be supported by what God has called you to build.
  4. It creates opportunities for others – Your business intentionally includes others and shares the blessing.
  5. It thrives well with your marriage – Your business complements your marriage, not competes with it.

Prayer

Father, thank You for giving me a calling that not only honors You but also supports and blesses the people around me. Help me to steward my business in a way that glorifies You, brings value to others, and strengthens—not strains—my family and marriage. Show me how to keep my priorities aligned with Your will. May my business always reflect Your heart and never pull me away from the people You’ve called me to love and serve. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
