Behold the Lion of God

6 න් 3 වන දිනය

Day 3

When lions are not busy hunting or traveling, they rest in the shade of trees or cliffs. To rest means to cease their usual activities, and lions usually rest after they have hunted and feasted on their meal. This is their time to digest the meal that they have consumed. When they are resting, they are gaining new strength for the next hunt or to continue on their journey. This is also the time that they spend together with their pride, which helps them to hunt. This is the time to relax and enjoy their finished work.

In the gospels, we see Jesus as the hunter of souls. Luke 19:10 says, “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” [CSB] Jesus was sent by the Father to seek and save the lost sinners and redeem them back to their Father. Jesus finished His work of redeeming us back to God and paving the way for many more to come after us. After Jesus ascended to heaven, the Bible states that He is seated at the right hand of God. Jesus is currently resting in the shadow of the Almighty God and invites us as His Bride to rest with Him together in the heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6). When we join Jesus in the heavenly places we can feast with Him in His finished work of the cross, we can find our purpose, strength, delight and nourishment in the presence of the Lord. The writer of Psalm 91 says that we who live under God’s protection shall abide (dwell, rest, get strengthened) under the shadow of the Almighty.

But the Bible paints a clear picture of what Jesus will do at the end of the age. The final hunt of the Lord is yet to come; this is not the hunt for souls, for He has given that commission to us (His Church). When the Lord returns, He will hunt down and defeat the devil and his cohorts once and for all, establishing a reign of peace and supremacy for His children. This will be the final strike of our Jewish Messiah, this will be the time when His roar as the Lion of the tribe of Judah will sound on forever and ever.

Behold the Lion of God

Throughout Scripture and especially the New Testament, we find a lot of analogies being used to describe the character and the role of Jesus Christ towards us, as humanity. In this plan, we will look at the similarities between Jesus and a lion, and how and why we need to connect to Him as the Lion of God. Another plan to read together with this one: "Behold the Lamb of God"
