Getting to Know the Holy Spiritනියැදිය

Experiencing the Spirit
Men, if we allow it, the Holy Spirit transforms us to be more like Jesus every day.
The most paramount godsend of COVID-19 was the extra time I had to start my mornings with God. I have a faux leather recliner in the corner of my basement, which my wife despises, but it's super comfortable. It has become my sanctuary, where I connect with God each morning. I don’t need to set an alarm; God wakes me to talk to Him. During this precious time, the Holy Spirit has been connecting the dots for me.
The Bible plays an essential role in guiding our lives. However, as previously noted, we need the assistance of the Holy Spirit to fully understand its meaning and how to apply Scripture to our daily lives. Paul wrote to the Corinthians, “Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given to us by God” (1 Corinthians 2:12 ESV).
The Holy Spirit also convicts us. John 16:8 proclaims, “And when He comes, He will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment” (ESV). Brothers, with me, it is primarily a gentle conviction. For example, when I say something critical of someone, the Holy Spirit points out the same flaw in my life before I complete the sentence. It is not a loud reprimand but rather a gentle reminder.
The Holy Spirit helps us overcome our sinful nature. Men, let’s be honest: we cannot achieve victory over sin without the Holy Spirit. We must surrender our own will and ask for God’s assistance. Once we do, God will send the Holy Spirit to help us conquer sin.
Hebrews 4:16 states, “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (ESV). The Holy Spirit is our Helper whenever we need it.
Prayer: Father, thank You for the story You are writing through Your Spirit in our lives. We praise You for making us more like Jesus every day. Amen.
Reflection: Which areas of your life need to change to better align with Jesus Christ? Take a moment to reflect, pray, and surrender to the will of the Holy Spirit.
