Faith Developed and Lived Out: James 1 in Action

5 න් 2 වන දිනය

Three short verses. Three profound truths that must shape our perspective on wealth.

For those in humble circumstances, Verse 9 is a reminder that God has honored you. Your relationship and position with God in Christ puts you in the very Throne Room of God. (Ephesians 3:12 and Hebrews 4:16)

For those with material wealth, Verse 10 is a reminder that your wealth does not define you – or put you in better standing with God. In the world’s eyes, wealth is the ultimate status symbol. In God’s eyes, your position in Christ is what matters.

No matter how much or little you possess, Verse 11 is a reminder of the transient nature of everything we possess. May you and I hold onto our possessions with a loose grip, so God can take and use whatever He wants, whenever He wants.

For Reflection & Discussion

  • Do you see yourself as “poor” or “wealthy?”
  • Do you struggle with comparison when it comes to material wealth?
  • Which of the three reminders do you most need right now?
  • How might you “loosen your grip” on what you have and own so that God might use it for His purposes and His glory?

Faith Developed and Lived Out: James 1 in Action

This 5-Day plan is taken from my book "James Scripture Journey: A 40-Day Bible Study on the Book of James." James, the half-brother of Jesus, pulls no punches. He wants you to have a faith that grows, a faith that is grounded, and a faith lived out. NOTE: This plan is like looking at "scenes" from the "movie" that is James. To get the most out of this plan, I recommend reading or listening to the whole book (about 15 minutes) so you can get a better grasp on the whole movie as you study the scenes!
