Steps to Salvation: A Simple Guide to Sharing Your Faithනියැදිය

Day 3: Christ Took Our Place
Scripture Reading: Romans 5:8
"But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." – Romans 5:8
Yesterday, we saw that sin earns us death, but God offers us the free gift of eternal life. Today, we take a closer look at how God made this possible. Romans 5:8 is one of the most powerful verses in Scripture because it reveals the depth of God’s love. He did not wait for us to get our lives together or prove ourselves worthy. While we were still sinners—before we even knew we needed Him—Jesus died for us.
Love in Action
God’s love is not just words; it is demonstrated. Jesus did not come to teach us how to be better people so we could earn our way to God. He came to pay the debt we owed. His death on the cross was the entire payment for our sins, satisfying the justice of God while displaying His mercy.
Imagine someone paying off an impossible debt for you, one so large you could never hope to repay. That is what Jesus did. He took our punishment upon Himself so that we could receive forgiveness and life.
This gift is called grace, and the Bible tells us that Christ died for us while we were dead in our sins. Ephesians 2:8-10 says, “God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.”
You were dead in your sin, but God saw you as valuable. He paid the price for you and has created hope and a future for you to do the good things He has planned for you.
Your Story
Take a moment to reflect on what this verse means for you. When did you first realize that Jesus’ sacrifice was not just for the world but for you specifically? How did it change your understanding of God’s love? Write a few sentences about how knowing Christ took your place has shaped your faith.
Prayer Prompt
Father, thank You for demonstrating Your love by sending Jesus to die for me. I did nothing to deserve this grace, yet You freely gave it. Help me to share this truth with others so they, too, can experience the love and forgiveness You offer. It is in the name of Jesus we pray, amen.
