Where Do We Come From?නියැදිය

Blessed by God
“And God blessed them. And God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth…’” (Genesis 1:28)
The first thing we read after God created Adam and Eve, is that He blessed them. This blessing was an expression of God’s favor. The Lord wanted to give His creatures happiness, health, and prosperity.
After having blessed the first humans, God told them to give birth to children. It was His plan that the earth would be filled with humans. But He did not create many of them; He created only one couple and told them to have children. So, just as marriage was part of God’s design right from the beginning, so was the concept of a family with children. This command to “be fruitful” is repeated in Genesis 9, after the great flood. So, it was not limited to the very first humans in the Garden of Eden only. God wanted His earth to be populated by humans. What do you think? Is this command applicable today, or has it been fulfilled by now?
From later stories, it becomes clear that having children is not self-evident, but dependent on God’s blessing. But this is not the only area in which we need His favor. Can you name a few examples in which you feel blessed by the Lord or really long for His blessing?
