The Victory Cry – “It Is Finished”
When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, ‘It is finished,’ and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. John 19:30 (ESV).
When Jesus said, “It is finished,” He wasn’t announcing His defeat but declaring His triumph over sin and death. The Greek word “Tetelestai,” meaning “paid in full,” signifies that His work was complete - covering the past, present, and future. Through His finished work on the cross, Jesus has fully accomplished what was necessary for our salvation, healing, and freedom. We don’t need to add anything to His victory - our debt has been completely paid.
How does knowing that Jesus fully completed the work of salvation impact how you live your life today?
Prayer: Father God, Thank You for the victory Jesus secured on the cross. When He said, “It is finished,” He completed everything necessary for my salvation, healing, and freedom. Help me to live in the confidence of this victory, knowing that nothing more needs to be added. In Jesus name, Amen.
