This Is Not Your Home: A 3-Day Devotional on 2 Peter 3නියැදිය

When we think about judgment, we typically envision a courtroom where a judge is loudly banging a gavel as he or she declares a serious (but well-deserved) punishment on the criminal in the courtroom. Thus, judgment can be terrifying to think about. But the judgment of the Lord is a bit different. Yes, it’s true that anyone who doesn’t follow Christ in this life will receive the punishment that he or she deserves in the life to come. That punishment is eternal separation from Him in hell.
But until we pass away (or Christ returns to Earth), we have the opportunity to accept—and share—His invitation to dwell in His home forever. His patience isn’t passive; it’s purposeful. He is coming back—and He wants everyone to join Him in His eternal kingdom.
Prayer: Dear God, I’m so grateful for Your grace toward me. Thank You for sending Your Son to pay the price of my redemption so that I don’t have to fear the coming judgment. Help me to live in eager anticipation of Your return.

On the worst days of her eating disorder recovery, Grace found hope in knowing that she wouldn’t struggle with her recovery forever. Covered by the blood of Christ, she knew that Heaven was her eternal home—and that she wouldn’t have a single struggle there. As you read 2 Peter 3, take heart in remembering that truth.
