Reading the Bible can feel intimidating sometimes. But one simple way of studying Scripture is called S.O.A.P. It stands for "Scripture," "Observation," "Application," and "Prayer." We'll show you how—it's easy!
S: Scripture
If you haven't already, read today's passage of Scripture. Then summarize it in your own words.
O: Observation
Read Proverbs 2:6–8 again.
- What stands out to you?
- What does it teach us about the source of wisdom?
- What benefits do you see in the passage for seeking God's wisdom?
A: Application
- True wisdom requires action. Why is doing what God says just as important as knowing what God says?
- What does this passage invite you to do differently when seeking guidance?
- What do you think could change in how your beliefs align with your actions if you seek guidance?
P: Prayer
Spend some time in prayer asking God for wisdom and the courage to put it into practice. Thank God for that wisdom and the people in your life who help you find it.

Coaches create the strategy, put together a game plan, and send their players out to make it happen. Wouldn't it be nice for someone to do that for all of our decisions? In this 4-week devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we'll explore Proverbs and Epistles to help us learn how God guides us toward wisdom and helps us make godly decisions.
