What the Bible Says About...

DAY 11 OF 365

## How w ords can harm I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, “Raca,” is answerable to the Sanhedrin. And anyone who says, “You fool!” will be in danger of the fire of hell. But I tell you that people will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned. Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly. Their teaching will spread like gangrene. See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones to judge everyone, and to convict all the ungodly of all the … defiant words ungodly sinners have spoken against him. … the Lord knows how to … hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment. This is especially true of those who … blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done. … Blackest darkness is reserved for them. For they mouth empty, boastful words … They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity—Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,” and, A sow that is washed returns to her wallowing in the mud.” > Related Verses: Mt 5:21-22, Mt 12:36-37, 2 Ti 2:16-17a, Ju 1:14-16, 2 Pe 2:9-10,12-13,17-19,22
