One of our hearts’ biggest concerns is that we live a life that matters. No one wants to pour their lives into something only to realize near the end that it was wasted. Right at the beginning of His ministry, Jesus told us how to live a meaningful life. He told us to seek God’s kingdom (Matthew 6:33). The bonus is that everything else we’re looking for will be taken care of as well. Jesus told us the key to living a life that matters: Seeking His Kingdom first. In other words, we are to bring heaven to Earth or to make Earth more like heaven.

But what is heaven like? Well, since God is the King of heaven, heaven has to be a lot like the King who reigns over it. God tells us that He is loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, kind, good, and self-controlled (Galatians 5:22-23). Our job is to make the world look more like God’s kingdom—to claim the territory of our lives for God’s kingdom. We do that by making decisions that bring love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and self-control into the world. So, stake your life in God’s kingdom—your life will be meaningful. But more than that, you will make your Father proud.
