The LIGHT of the Worldනියැදිය

Jesus is the LIGHT of the world
You can learn a lot about Jesus from thinking about what light is like. In one of his most famous self-defining statements, Jesus declared, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12). Recently, I had the chance to read all 398 Bible passages that use the words light, dark, and darkness, and I realized that Jesus was packing five key biblical truths into this verse, which fit into the acronym LIGHT.
L stands for life. Plants live in the light, and souls live in the light of Jesus. I stands for illumination, the light that allows you to see the truth of your surroundings. Jesus’ words illuminate the truth and enlighten our minds. G stands for growth. Just like trees grow in the sunlight, your faith grows in the light of Jesus’ love. H stands for harsh, because light hurts the eyes of those who are used to the dark. T stands for safeTy (okay, I know that’s cheating), because it’s dangerous to walk around in the dark and much safer to live life in the light.
I don’t expect to win any awards for best acronym of the year, but I do hope, in the devotions to come, to help you understand and enjoy the Jesus who claimed to be your Light and, even more, the Light of the world.
