Have you ever thought about how many things you’ve memorized? Song lyrics, lunch pin, phone numbers, equations, etc. Memorization is a powerful tool that we use daily to help us. This same process can also help as you’re following Jesus and can help bring truth to your mind when you’re tempted to get caught up in other things. When Jesus was tempted in the desert, He chose to quote scripture that He had memorized to help Himself. Memorizing scripture is a powerful reminder of what is true and who you are in difficult times of temptation. If Jesus found it helpful, it can help you too!

Today, identify and write out a few verses (including the memory verse) that would be helpful for you to remember in moments where you routinely find yourself tempted. Then, place them somewhere you’ll see them throughout your day. When you see them, say them out loud as you practice memorizing the Scriptures.
