Moments for Mums: Generosity - Part 1නියැදිය

Research has shown that it is pretty much impossible to be generous without getting some benefit for yourself. It activates the pleasure center in our brains and results in greater satisfaction, higher self-esteem, and a more positive outlook over time. We may not get back the time or resources that we gave, but we get a gift in return.
So none of us is genuinely altruistic in our generosity. We like the feeling we get from giving a gift. We feel useful when we give our time to a worthy cause. A sense of belonging and relationship is built when supporting a family with meals.
I used to be ashamed of feeling good about being generous. Now I simply accept it as a gift. I never want that to drive my heart to give, but it does encourage me to keep looking beyond myself. I believe we are designed this way to help us keep building community together.
Question
What benefits from being generous have you seen in your own life?
Prayer
Lord, thank you for how you have designed our minds to work. Please keep fostering generosity within us to show your love to others. Amen.
