Fear of the Lord
Praise God that his ‘foolishness’ is wiser than human wisdom, and his weakness greater than our strength.
God’s wisdom is countercultural, as Jesus’ own teaching illustrates. In order to live we are called to die; the first shall be last; giving away opens the way to being entrusted with much (Luke 6:38). And in our relationships we are called to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us (Matthew 5:44). Our courage to be countercultural is determined by who we fear – God or human beings.
