The season of Advent invites us to prepare our hearts for the coming of Jesus, not just with celebration but with reflection. In the Christmas story, fear is a recurring theme: in the Temple, in dreams, on hillsides and in quiet homes. Yet each time, God responds not with judgement but with reassurance: ‘Do not be afraid.’ In this series, we explore how choosing faith over fear helps us to welcome Jesus more deeply into our lives.

Whatever December looks like for you, wherever you are, whoever you are with or not with, our hope is that you will set aside time every day over the next four weeks to open God’s Word. We will have short devotionals each day to help you reflect on the day’s reading. We pray that you will see Jesus in a new light this Christmas.

In this Advent season, it is a meanigful time for us, as Gentile believers in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob to ask ourselves: what is our identity? Are we rooted in the whole word of God – including the prophecies of the Old and New Testaments? Are we looking for the coming of the Messiah, the Light of the world (John 8:12), who will reign from Jerusalem 'in the midst of His people Jacob'? This Bible reading plan provides some insights from the book of Isaiah. I'll provide the historical context where it's needed.
