Av hele mitt hjerte elsker jeg Guds lov. Men det pågår en kamp i mitt indre, som får meg til å synde mot min egen vilje. Å, jeg kan kjenne meg som et elendig menneske! Hvem skal fri meg ut fra denne dødens kropp? Jeg takker Gud, for svaret er Jesus, vår Herre! Dere ser altså hva som er problemet: Jeg holder fast på Guds lov, som er i mitt sinn, mens jeg i en annen del av meg slåss med mine lyster.
