Pe când erau ei acolo, s-a împlinit vremea ca ea să nască. Și L-a născut pe Fiul ei întâi născut, L-a înfășat și L-a culcat într-o iesle, pentru că la han nu mai era loc pentru ei. În ținutul acela erau niște păstori care stăteau afară, în câmp, păzindu-și turma în timpul nopții. Și [iată că] un înger al Domnului li s-a arătat și slava Domnului a strălucit împrejurul lor. Ei au fost cuprinși de o mare spaimă, dar îngerul le-a zis: „Nu vă temeți! Iată, vă aduc o veste bună, care va fi o mare bucurie pentru tot poporul: astăzi, în cetatea lui David, vi S-a născut un Mântuitor, care este Hristos, Domnul.
