Building Love That Lasts

DAY 2 OF 3

Grow Through Change, Not Conflict

Every relationship will test your patience, flexibility, and humility. You can’t build something lasting if you refuse to grow. Statements like, “This is just who I am,” can destroy what God is trying to build. Love requires growth.

Understanding and tolerance go hand in hand. People are shaped by different backgrounds, cultures, and preferences. You may love noise while your partner prefers quiet. You may think direct words mean honesty while they hear it as harshness. That’s why tolerance, rooted in love, is vital.

Growth also means learning flexibility. Be willing to adjust, not compromise your values, but mature in character. Mutual respect is another key ingredient. Ephesians 5 reminds us that love and respect are not gendered; they are mutual acts of reverence to Christ.

And when differences arise, prayer is your greatest tool. Talk to God before you talk at each other. Sometimes the enemy’s goal isn’t to make you fight your partner, it’s to make you forget your real enemy. Prayer keeps you both aligned with heaven when emotions pull you apart.

Reflection:

In what areas is God asking you to grow rather than resist change?

How can you turn conflicts into opportunities for prayer and connection?
