Chosen and Fruitful

DAY 5 OF 10

Pruned to Produce

Scripture: John 15 : 2
“Every branch that does bear fruit He prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.”

Devotional
Pruning feels painful but proves potential. God cuts not to harm but to shape. When the Gardener trims, He removes what hinders new growth, attitudes, attachments, or ambitions that once bore fruit but now block flow.

Many mistake pruning for punishment. Yet God prunes those already bearing fruit, not the barren. The pain you feel might be preparation for multiplication. What He removes externally, He intends to strengthen internally.

During pruning, perspective is vital. Instead of asking, “Why me?” ask, “What are You forming in me?” Pruning shifts focus from performance to dependence, from self-effort to surrender. It is God’s loving reminder that He sees more in you than you see in yourself.

If you’re in a season of cutting, stay rooted. Don’t walk away from the process; walk with the One holding the shears. Greater fruit always follows surrendered branches.

Reflection & Action

  1. What might God be pruning from your life right now?
  2. Action Step: Write one area you’ll release to God’s hand this week and trust Him to reshape it for fruitfulness.

Prayer Declaration
Father, I choose to trust You in every pruning season. Remove what hinders growth and refine what remains. May this process make me stronger, not bitter, and yield fruit that honors You. Amen.
