Opening Our Hearts

What if people could see Jesus by the way you open your heart to others?

Opening your heart (or mouth or home) can make you vulnerable. Trusting others to treat you well and to value your contribution is risky business. It can be painful, but it can also be life-giving. There’s something deeply attractive about people who love others well and share their heart authentically.

Jesus sums up all of scripture by saying “Do to others what you would have them do to you.” He also commanded (it wasn’t a suggestion) that we love one another as He has loved us.

Reflection Question: How can you open your heart to love and be loved today?

Call to Action: Find a way to show God’s love to someone today. It could be a random act of kindness like paying for someone’s order in the drive-through or cafe or writing someone a note to tell them how much they matter to you.

Prayer: Lord, help me to love others like you love them. Show me how to express that to someone who needs your encouragement in a way that speaks to their heart. Amen.
