Overcoming Fear

DAY 9 OF 9

FREEDOM IS YOURS.

In closing, I want to recap and then pray over you in the video below.

Fear is an issue affecting people of every walk of life in every country around the world. Fear tries to stop us. Fear can rob us of all that is ahead. Fear tries to stop us from walking out God’s plans for our lives. God’s desire for us is for us to live in freedom. Jesus came to set us free. We aren’t to be slaves to fear anymore. We can live free from fear's control.

Fear can be a spirit. Far more people are affected by a spirit of fear than realize it. Many people don’t know what is holding them back. But the good news is that Jesus gave authority over every evil spirit. He said that His followers cast out demons. He said that we get to be seated with Him in heavenly places, and He is seated far above all rule, authority, power, and dominion (Ephesians 1:20-21 ESV). Let us take authority and bind this enemy.

While fear is often a spirit, it can also be a fruit - the fruit of what we allow into our hearts. We need to check our hearts and see what seeds we are allowing in. What are we watching, listening to, and meditating on? If we are focused on the negative possibilities, we need to uproot these seeds and begin to go over God’s promises. We need to rip out all of the enemy’s "what-ifs".

While storms may come, we need to lay hold of the Rock that isn’t shaken. We can’t control all of life’s circumstances, but life’s circumstances don’t have to control us either. Paul learned the secret to contentment. He learned how to overcome circumstances. He said he can do all through Christ who strengthens him. When we lay hold of the Rock, we can be secure even in the storm.

Fear and faith are both beliefs in a promise. They are both promises that we lay hold of that grow in our hearts and bring a confident expectation. The difference is what that expectation is. We are sowing promises and beliefs into our hearts, so let's do it on purpose and lay hold of God’s word, His promises, and be filled with His joy and Hope.

I want to close by praying over you.
