Six Streams of Living Waterਨਮੂਨਾ

Streams of Living Water
Over the past seven days, we have introduced the six streams of Christian discipleship from Richard Foster’s book “Streams of Living Water.” These streams have helped us reflect on different facets of a healthy spiritual life while also offering a well-rounded description of Jesus’ own character.
Our challenge today is to put these streams into practice, so we may continue to grow into the wonderful likeness of Christ.
As you reflect on each one, ask yourself, “What’s one thing I can do to more deeply express this aspect of Jesus’ character in my life?” Keep it simple and realistic. If it’s helpful, write your thoughts down.
Ready? Let’s begin.
First, the contemplative stream. What’s one thing you could do to fill your life with more prayer?
Second, the holiness stream. What’s one thing you could do to cultivate new habits of holy living?
Third, the evangelical stream. What’s one thing you could do better to center God’s Word in your daily life?
Fourth, the charismatic stream. What’s one thing you could do to make room for the Spirit’s power in your life?
Fifth, the social justice stream. What’s one thing you could do to increase your level of response to the needs around you?
And finally, the incarnational stream. What’s one thing you could do to help you intentionally recognize and enjoy God’s grace in your everyday living?
As you walk through this process and put these reflections into practice, your relationship with God will deepen, becoming more practical. Over time, you will find yourself living out Paul’s instruction in Ephesians 5:1-2: “Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”
May this be your lived reality!
Prayer
Dear God, guide me to live fully in the streams of Your Spirit, as I seek to become more like Jesus. Help me to pray without ceasing, to pursue holiness with intention, and to let Your Word light my path. Through your Holy Spirit, equip me and empower me to live as Christ did, reflecting your beautiful love to a broken world.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen.
Thank you for journeying through these seven streams of spiritual life. You’ve explored prayer, holiness, God’s Word, the Spirit, compassion, and a sacramental approach to daily living. May these streams continue to flow through your life, shaping your heart, mind, and actions. Live boldly, pray continually, and let each ordinary moment become an extraordinary encounter with Him.
