Therefore I urge you, imitate me (1 Corinthians 4:16 NKJV).
What will your legacy be when you depart from this world?
Joshua's life stands as a testament to the profound impact one individual can have on future generations. The Scriptures recount, "So the people served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who outlived Joshua" (Judges 2:7 NKJV). Yet, as time passed, later generations drifted away from God's ways, as revealed in the book of Judges, where it states, "everyone did what was right in his own eyes" (Judges 21:25 NKJV).
John the Baptist also left a mark on the generation that followed. Jesus said, "For I say to you, among those born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist… And when all the people heard Him, even the tax collectors justified God, having been baptized with the baptism of John" (Luke 7:28–29 NKJV). As Spurgeon wisely observed, the righteous leave a lasting legacy, akin to carving their name upon the rock, while the wicked fade away like writing in the sand. So, what will your legacy be?
Employment Point: Leave a godly legacy for the next generation.
