Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

DAY 48 OF 365

For we walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7 NKJV).

How confident are you that God will faithfully provide for all your necessities?

Picture a scene in ancient Israel – a farmer stands before his lush fields as the seventh year approaches, the Sabbath year of rest for the land. God's command mandated that every seven years, they allow their fields to rest for one year. The logical question surfaces, 'What shall we eat in the seventh year?' Instead of providing a detailed plan, God invites His people to trust Him. "Then I will command my blessing on you in the sixth year, and it will bring forth produce enough for three years" (Leviticus 25:21 NKJV). Here, faith in God's promise becomes the key to sustenance.

In the church age, Paul extends this principle to Christians through their giving. In his letter to the Corinthians, he emphasizes the law of sowing and reaping as applied to contributions to the church with treasures in Heaven. "He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully" (2 Corinthians 9:6 NKJV). As we navigate the realms of giving, let us be guided by faith in God's unchanging promises. Jesus says that His heavenly Father will provide, so let us find comfort in His word.

Employment Point: Do what God requires of you and watch Him supply your needs.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
