Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Twoਨਮੂਨਾ

Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might (Ephesians 6:10 NKJV).
Where do you turn when overwhelmed by life’s circumstances?
In today’s reading, David finds himself in a terrible situation. While he and his army were away, his enemies came and kidnapped all their families! David’s men are so angry that they talk about stoning him! What would you do if you were David and found yourself in such a terrible situation?
Amidst the despair of his men planning to stone him, David turns to the Lord for strength (1 Samuel 30:6). He recalls God's faithfulness in past trials, echoing his trust in Psalm 61:2 (NKJV), "when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I."
My dear brothers and sisters, just as David found solace in God's past deliverance, we too can draw strength from remembering God's faithfulness in our own lives. Reflecting on God's blessings brings renewal to our weary souls. Like David, let's seek refuge in the Rock that never fails, finding courage amid difficult times.
Employment Point: Encourage yourself in the Lord when your heart is overwhelmed.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
