Marriage Is God's Design: Inspired by the Movie 'Back to Eden'

DAY 1 OF 7

BABA: Why are you confused...?

DEBBY: Baba, I think I made a mistake. I shouldn’t have married this man. I missed it.

BABA: Why do you say that? You were happy at the beginning. In fact, you both convinced my servant and your parents that you were ready for marriage.

DEBBY: Yes, sir. We were deeply in love and so convinced about our relationship.

BABA: Then why do you now want to leave the garden by agreeing with a stranger that you two are no longer compatible?

DEBBY: What garden are you talking about, sir? And who is this stranger?

(she looks to a distance and sees a strange figure, she panics.)

B A B A: Your marriage is the garden. You’ve only tasted a small part of what it has to offer. But there is a stranger who doesn’t want you to fully experience it.

The Eden Nature

From the very beginning, God’s intention for Adam and Eve was clear: marriage was to be a garden; a sanctuary of peace, purpose, and unbroken fellowship with Him. Eden was not just a place; it was an atmosphere; a divine environment where humanity and God walked in harmony.

Yet, even in that perfect garden, a stranger entered (subtle, cunning, and determined) to disrupt God’s design. Adam and Eve’s greatest mistake was not the presence of the serpent, but their failure to recognize and resist him. And like Eve, many today, like Debby, repeat the same error.

Marriage is undeniably God’s idea, but that does not mean it is exempted from attack. In fact, the very moment you step into a covenant marriage aligned with God’s will, you declare war on the enemy of that covenant. The devil despises what God designed, and he will always attempt to infiltrate the garden of your union. His tactics are as old as Eden: whispering lies, sowing discontent, magnifying flaws, and tempting hearts away from obedience.

Sadly, many couples relax once they are certain they are “in God’s will,” forgetting that the will of God still requires the warfare of faith. They underestimate the battle, listen to the serpent’s voice, and before long, find themselves driven out of their Eden — losing the peace, purpose, and fellowship God intended for their marriage.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

Every God-ordained marriage carries both a divine calling and a spiritual conflict. The garden is yours by grace, but its stewardship demands vigilance. Recognize the stranger, resist his lies, and refuse to yield your Eden. Guard your union with prayer, humility, forgiveness, and unwavering commitment to God’s Word.

Remember: to build a godly marriage is to take a stand against hell itself. Yet the same God who planted Eden also equips you to protect it. If you will fight for what He designed, you will experience the fullness of His peace, purpose, and fellowship in your home.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, You established marriage as a sacred covenant — a gift for companionship, fruitfulness, and the fulfillment of Your divine purpose. Teach me to walk faithfully in that purpose and grant me the grace and discernment to guard and nurture my Eden. May my home abound with Your peace, reflect Your purpose, and remain a place of unbroken fellowship with You, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
