John the Apostle, Author of Revelation
Scripture
“I, John, am your brother and your partner in suffering and in God’s Kingdom and in the patient endurance to which Jesus calls us. I was exiled to the island of Patmos for preaching the word of God and for my testimony about Jesus.” (Revelation 1:9 NLT)
Reflection
The Bible says, “For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1 NLT).
Though not explicitly stated, historical tradition suggests that John was in his 80s or 90s when he wrote Revelation. Despite his advanced age and the hardships of exile on Patmos, God still used him to receive and record divine revelation.
Application
Where might you be holding back from God's calling due to age or other perceived limitations? Take a moment and list any that come to mind.
Prayer
Father, help me fully commit to Your calling and trust Your guidance in all things.
