The Windshield Life: Leaving the Rearview Behind

DAY 2 OF 5

Day Two
Fix Your Eyes on the Windshield

As we discussed yesterday, when you drive, the windshield is large, providing you with a clear view of the road ahead. The rearview mirror, by comparison, is tiny, meant only for quick glances. God designed life the same way.

Too often, we focus on our past mistakes, regrets, or shame, staring into the rearview mirror of life. But God says, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!” (Isaiah 43:18-19 NIV). The rearview mirror is small because the past isn’t meant to guide you; it’s meant to remind you of lessons learned.

The windshield, on the other hand, represents your future in Christ, wide, open, and full of possibilities. Paul reminds us, “Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal” (Philippians 3:13-14 NIV).

Like Chad shared in the video, your freedom, purpose, and hope are all ahead, not behind. “If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV).

Take a quick glance in the rearview mirror to see how far God has brought you, then fix your eyes on the windshield. Your journey ahead is bigger, brighter, and filled with His grace.

Don’t let the past block your view. Look forward. Step on the gas. The best road is straight ahead.

About this Plan

The Windshield Life: Leaving the Rearview Behind

Life isn’t meant to be lived staring in the rearview mirror. In this 5-day plan, you’ll discover how to let go of shame, regret, and past mistakes so you can fix your eyes on Jesus and the road ahead. Through Scripture and practical illustrations, you’ll learn how to embrace your identity as a new creation in Christ and step into the freedom, hope, and purpose God has already prepared for you.
