Breaking Barriers Like Jesusਨਮੂਨਾ

Radical Encounter with a Leper
Covid 19, a life-threatening disease, enhanced hygiene measures like frequent handwashing, sanitizer use, social distancing, etc. to reduce transmission risk.
In Jesus' time, leprosy was a contagious disease, and so lepers were socially ostracized: Forced to live outside cities, separated from society, and required to warn others. Lepers would announce their presence with a trumpet to keep others at a distance.
In such a context, Jesus' encounter with a leper is remarkable. Despite the risks and societal norms, Jesus touches the leper, healing him physically and emotionally.
- Breaking social stigma: Jesus challenges the norms, showing love and acceptance.
- Healing beyond physical touch: Jesus' touch brings restoration and dignity.
- Revolutionary impact: This act sparks change, promoting compassion and understanding.
Reflect:
- How do I respond to marginalized individuals?
- Can I break down social stigmas and promote inclusivity?
- Do I actively work towards uplifting the rejected?
Prayer: Lord, forgive my pride and fear. Help me embody your love, accepting others as they are. Empower me to be your hands and feet, bringing healing and restoration. Amen.
