God’s Wonderful Gift from Acts 2:1-47

Note to the parents:

This is the first time that God’s Spirit is available to everyone who believes! Though it may not be as dramatic as in this story, express to your child how amazing it is that God’s Holy Spirit lives inside of all of us who believe in Jesus.

Help your child recall the story by asking simple questions about what happened.

Examples:

• What did they hear and see when the Holy Spirit arrived?
• What did God’s Holy Spirit help everyone in the room to do?
• Did the Holy Spirit help Jesus’ followers tell others about Him?
• Did people believe them?

Together, think about what you have learned. Invite your child to ask you the question. Encourage them to add their thoughts or fill in a blank when prompted.

What did we learn about GOD?

• God did not leave us alone after Jesus returned to heaven.
• Jesus is God with us.
• The Spirit is God IN us.

What did we learn about PEOPLE?

• People who choose to love and follow Jesus have God’s Holy Spirit living inside of them.

What did we learn about GOD’S HOLY SPIRIT?

• God’s Holy Spirit is the special Helper Jesus promised to send.
• The Holy Spirit comforts us, teaches us about God’s way, and helps us to live like Jesus.
