Three Years in 30 Days: Jesus' Life and Missionਨਮੂਨਾ

The birth of Jesus
“Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea…” (Matthew 2:1 ESV)
No other birth has been described so extensively and in so many languages. The birth of Jesus has been celebrated worldwide every year for around 2,000 years.
This is what happened: A young woman, Mary, became pregnant before she was married to her fiancé Joseph. She was not pregnant by Joseph, nor by any other man. God Himself had brought this child to life in her through His Spirit. Mary and Joseph were both visited by an angel who explained to them what would happen in their lives (Luke 1:26-35; Matthew 1:18-25). God had a plan for this Child, whose earthly parents would be Joseph and Mary. God made that plan clear by the names this Child would bear: Immanuel, which means God with us. In everyday life, He would be called Jesus: Savior. In the birth of this Child, God showed how great His love for us is and how great His desire is to give people true peace.
This event is important because it marked the beginning of God's promised plan of salvation for all humanity.
Read Matthew 1:18 again and quietly reflect on it for a few minutes.
- What does Jesus' birth mean to you?
- What would you like to say to Him about it?
