Day 27: Be Ready to Give the Reason for Your Hope
Sharing faith can feel intimidating. Many of us fear not having the right answers or being rejected. Yet Scripture encourages us: “Always be ready to make your defense to anyone who demands from you an accounting for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and reverence” (1 Peter 3:15–16).
Notice that Peter doesn’t say we need to prove we’re right or argue others into belief. Instead, he calls us to give the reason for our hope. No one can dispute your personal story of how Christ has worked in your life. Sharing that story, with gentleness and respect, plants seeds that God can grow.
Think about why you have faith. Maybe it’s because of God’s goodness and grace you’ve experienced. Maybe it’s the beauty of the sacraments, or the example of a parent or mentor. Having that answer ready equips you to share when opportunities arise.
Questions
- What is one reason you have faith that you could share with someone else?
- How might you practice telling your story simply and humbly?
