DAY 21 OF 30

Redemption Through Christ

Doubt That Leads to Worship

Thomas is often called “Doubting Thomas,” yet his story reveals the importance of honesty in faith. After Jesus rose from the dead, Thomas was absent when the other disciples first saw Him alive. When they told him, he refused to believe without proof. He needed to see and touch Jesus’ wounds, to encounter the risen Christ with his own hands. A week later, Jesus appeared, not with rebuke, but with invitation. He showed Thomas His hands and side, meeting him in his doubt. That encounter transformed scepticism into worship: “My Lord and my God!” Thomas reminds us that faith grows when our questions are met with grace rather than judgment.

Centuries later, Francis Chan lives this truth in our own time. Born in California, Chan became a pastor, church planter, and author, devoted to seeing lives transformed by God’s love. He challenges believers to wrestle with faith instead of settling for routine. His life has not been free from struggle; he has faced fear, failure, and the tension between personal comfort and calling. Yet he shows that doubt is not a mark of failure. Honest questions can become invitations to seek God more deeply, study His Word more intentionally, and trust His Spirit more fully. Doubt, offered sincerely, becomes a doorway to worship.

I have walked a similar path. Growing up in a Christian home, I memorised Bible verses and attended church, but questions began to stir in my teenage years. I wondered if my faith was something I had inherited, rather than something I had discovered. If I had been born into another family, would I have believed differently? That thought unsettled me and sparked a desire to know God personally, rather than just relying on what I had been taught.

My first moments of seeking felt quiet and uneventful. Yet minor signs nudged me forward. History itself, marked by the use of BC and AD, points to the life of Jesus Christ. One man’s life had changed the world’s measure of time. Could He truly be the God who conquered death? That spark of curiosity opened a path where questions became bridges to faith. Doubt led not to despair but to wonder, reflection, and worship.

Later, doubt revisited me in seasons of waiting. Friends progressed in studies and careers while I lingered in uncertainty. I questioned God’s timing, my purpose, and whether I was in the right place. Those doubts could have turned into frustration, but I chose to trust. God’s timing was perfect, and He opened doors I could never have imagined. In those moments, questions became a way to lean closer to Him, turning doubt into awe and trust into worship.

Thomas’ honesty, Francis Chan’s life, and my own journey converge on one truth: doubt is not failure. When brought to God, questions become pathways to deeper faith, awe, and worship. Honest seeking draws us closer to the One who conquered death and offers life that surpasses all understanding.

Reflection Question:

What doubts do you have? How can they lead you closer to God?

Prayer:

Lord, help me to bring my doubts to You honestly. Teach me to let my questions guide me into deeper faith, stronger trust, and sincere worship of You, even when I do not yet understand.
