Romans 5
Justified Through Faith and Standing in Grace
Romans 5:1 begins with a powerful declaration: "Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." Justification means we’ve been made right with God—not because of anything we've done, but purely through faith in Jesus. This reality transforms our relationship with God completely, replacing guilt and fear with genuine peace.
But Paul doesn't stop there. In Romans 5:2, he continues, "Through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand." This grace isn’t a fleeting moment or a one-time event; it's a new reality, a new way of life. Through Jesus, we have continuous, secure access to the presence and favor of God.
Standing in grace means our position with God is firm, steady, and unchanging. Our confidence is not in our own abilities or works, but in the finished work of Christ. This truth empowers us not only to experience deep peace but also to rejoice confidently in the hope of God's glory. Because we stand in His grace, we can boldly and joyfully look forward to everything God has promised.
