Blaze: Encountering the Fire of God for Mamasਨਮੂਨਾ

Day 3: The Fire of Jesus
“I’ve come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already ablaze!” -Luke 12:49 ISV
Jesus first came as a baby in a manger, fulfilling His mission to deal with sin and pay our debt as the perfect sacrificial Lamb. This is the heart of the Gospel. Yet we must not stay in spiritual infancy. It's comforting to reflect on Jesus saving us, but we must also soberly acknowledge what He saves us from: eternity separated from God in the fire of hell.
As we pass through the waters of baptism and receive the Holy Spirit, the blood of Jesus covers us, sealing us with the Spirit and sparing us from the judgment by fire that is to come.
“I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I... He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire” (Matthew 3:11-12 NIV).
“When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze” (Isaiah 43:2b NIV).
In His first coming, Jesus appeared as the Lamb who was slain. But He rose victorious—as the Lion who conquered the grave. John’s vision of the risen Christ reveals this blazing glory:
"I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me... His eyes were like blazing fire, His feet like bronze glowing in a furnace, and His voice like the sound of rushing waters... His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance” (Revelation 1:12-16, NIV condensed).
Jesus, the Lion of Judah, is fierce and holy:
“Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah… has triumphed.” (Revelation 5:5 NIV)
His second coming will not be as a humble servant, but as the reigning King—radiant with power, holiness, and unstoppable fire.
Reflection Questions:
- What does His second coming reveal about His power and purpose?
- How does your faith deepen when you see Jesus as both Lamb and Lion?
- How can you help your children see Jesus as King?
- How can we honor the Lion of Judah in our homes?
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for who You are—the Alpha and the Omega, the Lion and the Lamb. You reign in power and wear the crown. You are worthy, Jesus. May my life be stewarded well in Your Kingdom and for Your glory. Amen!
