God’s Opportunities in Delays

Paul spent two years in custody because Felix wanted a political favor. These years of Paul’s life look wasted. But in God’s hands, delay is preparation. Even seasons of waiting are opportunities for growth and witness.

The delay must have been maddening. Or maybe Paul approached it with steadfast patience, living day by day in the Lord’s hands. Or maybe both. Luke doesn’t tell us. But what we’ll come to see is that this delay not only gave Paul the opportunity to minister to the Caesarean Christians as they ministered to him, it also opened doors to continue witnessing to Felix and Drusilla, and later to Porcius Festus, his successor.

The delay became an ongoing opportunity.

Prayer

Ask God for opportunities in your waiting seasons. Pray for patience and faith in them—to trust God’s timing and to see God’s opportunities, even if at first they seem hidden.
